"Feel Free Sydney" Media Event at pierside kitchen&bar
16 January 2003
More than 50 members of the Singapore media were treated to scrumptious breakfast Sydney style prepared specially by famous Sydneysider Bill Granger. Delighted guests tucked into Bill's famous scrambled eggs, sweet-corn fritters with bacon and roast tomatoes and ending with ricotta hotcakes topped with banana and honeycomb butter.
The breakfast event was organised by Tourism New South Wales South Asia office and Tourism Sydney to update the media on the latest happenings in Sydney and also to thank them for their continued support. Mr Tony Thirlwell, Chief Executive and General Manager, was on hand to address the media.
Bill Granger was flown in specially for this media event and charmed the media with his relaxed and easy-going style. He maintained his cool even when the hotplate that he was using to demonstrate cooking his ricotta hotcakes ran out of gas. Of course, the situation was rectified in no time.
The event was held at a riverfront restaurant called pierside kitchen&bar, deliberately chosen as the ambience closely resembles Cockle Bay Wharf. Guests received a customised invitation to this event which came in the form of a table napkin inserted into a napkin ring. It was a real hit!
Needless to say, all the guests left the event with satisfied smiles and hands patting their tummies. Every guest also received a specially autographed "bills food" cookbook.
